Crop: It is estimated that over three hundred thousand people harvest
this crop in the United States. Morels are a natural wild fungi which typically grow where pine forest fires have occurred
in the past few years. Most morels are exported to other countries.
There are now hundreds of people sun drying morels.
It takes eight to ten pounds of fresh morel mushrooms to make one pound of dried.
Preparation: Use a 4 quart pan place 2 cups or less morels in pan.
Spray slightly with water. Move with hands, spray again and repeat until moist
and washed. Slice in half and wash insides. For best results do not soak in water.
Cook in your favorite dish. They are very good fried in butter and
